Our sermons are expository. While we have not fully mastered this art, we still consider  it to be the better than the practice of preaching topical sermons. We are of the view  that a historical-grammatical approach to reading the Bible is to be preferred over an  allegorical approach that assumes the Bible doesn’t have its own message. Other  reasons for preaching expository sermons include: 

• We are biased human beings. 

‘One of the advantages of sequential expository preaching is that the  preacher is forced to preach on topics he would rather avoid, and to give  appropriate weight to topics he would tend to overemphasize’-

• It encourages the listeners to want to hear God’s voice rather than the  preacher’s voice. 
• The congregation is encouraged to adopt a long-term view of life and of their  walk with Jesus.
